A recent research came regarding universe i.e. discovery of previously unknown subatomic particle. There is evidence that depicts and shows the presence of fifth fundamental force of nature by theoretical physicist at the University of California, Irvine. Researcher Jonathan Feng, professor of physics and astronomy says the discovery of fifth force is true and for decades they were unknown of four fundamental forces i.e. gravitation, electromagnetism and the strong and weak nuclear forces.
With this discovery there would be change in the understanding of universe along with the consequences for the unification of forces and dark matter. The research came upon at the mid-2015 study where nuclear physicist does experiments at Hungarian Academy of Sciences who were finding for “dark portions” unseen dark matter could be signified with those particles, comprising of about 85 percent of the universe of masses.
They uncovered a radioactive decay normally that indicates to the existence of a light particle 30 times heavier than an electron. The discovery was simplified with excess of events that indicated new particle and the experimentalists weren’t able to claim that it was a new force. The Hungarian researchers were researched by UCI with all their data’s as well as other previous experiments in this area along with the evidence that strongly disfavours both matter particles and dark protons.
A new theory was proposed that synthesizes all existing data and determined there discovery of the fifth fundamental force. The analysis they did was published too but UCI demonstrated all the works in details and says that it may be not a dark proton rather a “protophobic X boson” this new found boson only acts with protons and neutrons where as normal electric force acts on electron and protons at an extremely limited range.
They didn’t able to get any further boson observed with same characteristics and few times they call it just ‘X boson’ where ‘X’ means unknown. Further experiments conducted by them were crucial and the particles were not very heavy and laboratories have had the energies needed to make it since 50’s and 60’s according to Feng. Difficulty came when they were not able to find the reason behind its interaction that is very feeble as it was very light.
Such scientific breakthroughs helped and opened an entirely new topic of research and field of enquiry. May be this potential fifth force joined the electromagnetic and strong and weak nuclear forces as “manifestations of one gender, more fundamental force. There may be additional dark sector with its own matter and forces.
