The bouncing of shower electrons across the Earth’s magnetosphere which is commonly known as Northern Lights described as the directly observed for the first time by an International team of scientists. They have analyzed directly the underlying mechanism which is the cause of colourful auroras that had been long hypnotized.
The performance of these subatomic shower is legendary which is considered as one of the fantastic show widely considered as wonders of world with the blend of multiple colours like green, red and purple waltz across the night sky. The physical mechanism of auroral pulsation has so far not been verified through observation while among the variety of auroras pulsating auroral patches appearing at dawn are common.
The cause of this wonder is by the hard-to-detect interaction between electrons and plasma waves with the advent of new satellite and using advanced measuring tools. The activity took place in the region surrounding the Earth where the behaviour of the electric particles is usually governed by the planets magnetic field and this interaction takes place in the Earth’s Magnetosphere.
Global recognition in the magnetosphere is the cause behind auroral substorms, which dispatches stored solar wind energy. Satoshi Kasahra as associate professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Science at the Graduate School of Science of the University of Tokyo in Japan, also the lead author of research has explained the characteristics of auroral brightening from dusk to midnight, followed by violent motions of distinct auroral arcs that eventually break up and emerge as diffuse pulsating auroral patches at dawn.
To rain electrons into the upper atmosphere there is global recognition often drove a specific type of plasma waves termed as chorus waves. Just when electron falls a colourful light comes up as well as stabilizing the system. They observed the scattering electrons for the first time through chorus waves generating particle precipitation into the Earth’s atmosphere and thus precipitating electron flux with sufficient intense to generate pulsating aurora.
The distinguishing of precipitating electrons from others through typical sensors is not possible which led to no clear observation or evidence search by scientist. Arase spacecraft, a sensor was aboard the Exploration of energization and Radiation in Geospace satellite (ERG) by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
Further scientists are planning to pursue this line f research with their collaborative team from different universities for better understanding and evidences generation with continuous analyzing of data collected by ERG spacecraft more comprehensively, revealing variability and further details of plasma physics and resulting atmospheric phenomena like auroras.
