Introduction – In earlier times, the most important and commonly used tool i.e. slide rule was considered for engineering and mathematical calculations. But with the growing age, the use of newer technology i.e. the electronic scientific calculator makes use of slide rule which has now become obsolete according to today’s time. For the learning of computer, engineering and mathematical, there are lots of technologies which hit the latest time inventions. It also includes iPads and 3-D printers.
About – 3-D printing is considered as technology for industries mainly used for manufacturing and prototyping. They are specifically popular for defense and aerospace sectors and areas. This technology is also known by the name of Addictive Manufacturing (AM). By using digital computer-aided design file, this process can create solid 3-D objects. The layers of materials are added together by these printers until the creation of final object. While traditional printing methods like CNC machining helps in the removal of materials from solid block with the use of cutters and tools. This process is entirely different from the new technology.
Method – 3-D printing is a special production method which works fast with the use of waste material in minimum quantity. It has a wide range of flexibility in its design which can manufacture bespoke objects for the less cost. The popularity of this technology is increasing with the offered advantages in the manufacturing industry.
Benefits – Learning of the children can be benefitted with the usage and understanding of these types of technologies which are continuously growing with time. The learning fields can include science, technology, engineering and mathematics which is also known as stem process. Also, traditional areas like history, geography, biology, music and design technologies are also included.
Innovation – in the year 2013, there has been an introduction of 3-D printers into 21 schools which helps in the learning investigation through the printing of three-dimensions. This project was known as the pilot project. It mainly focuses in the highlights of the training and technical support requirements for the widespread incorporation of various dimensions printing into the curriculum which has become successful.
The potential of this project has increased as a teaching resource which further provides adequate training accessibility for the use in technologies. Most of the schools are getting engaged in the projects of using increased pupils motivation for the 3-D printing projects.
Rise in printers – schools has increased the number of printers which is important engaging educational tool which helps in maintaining the relation of numbers of printers and low cost availability in machines. While, the previous versions were more expensive in use. This price reduction helps in the technological improvement in the educational sector.
