For making wall carvings, first he sketches the patterns onto the panels. He shades in the spots that will be raised or have a special condition. In the craving process, he carves out the extra wood, and then smoothes out what is left. In an interview, he said that, “He always had the obsession with textures and creating them. He considered it to the most beautiful task. This process is stiff and rigid and the process of carving is very delicate and sensual”.
Each piece of wood takes three weeks to two months of time depending on how much of material the designer has to remove. Once the piece is ready, he sprays it with a base color. Then he adds an iridescent finish. Finally, he sprays it with a polyurethane finish to seal everything in.
Nuge taught himself how to work with wood through research and help from other wood workers. It is the most creative outlet appreciated by the people. In the beginning, he makes cutting boards every day after his basic work that made the gateway into woodworking.
