A recently launched on Kickstarter, Flyte is a wirelessly powered light that hovers in the air by way of magnetic levitation. It hovers over the box which is completely contactless and draws power wirelessly from the charger block hovering over.
The words came into existence by joining fly, light and Swedish word for float i.e. flyte, creating luminous spectacles that combine and mix the wonders of science- magnetic levitation without wire. A lofty design defying the existence of gravity pulls everything down as the device is floating and glowing without being connected to any wire.
Flyte uses the principle of opposite charges repel each other hence, counteracting the downward pull of gravity and in the meantime the wooden box also wirelessly powers the bulb. It looks little complicated but adhering to the principles of the magnet will make impossible things possible.
The process of powering the flyte bulb is through induction and wherein electromagnetic current flow through generating current in another body placed nearby. An innovative decorative piece for anyone’s drawing room by simply using scientific facts and principles. The bulb will last to work for 50,000 hours that means it will work and glow for 11 years if used 12 hours a day and it will double if the usage point reduces. The cost of such decorative art craft is $249 (16, 905.86 INR).
