A wave drone innovation with an application probably never seen before are using a giant tethered drone to de-ice wind turbine. A companies dream to bring up new ways, for gathering together cheap flight technology in use.
Inventors of the drone belonged to the Latvian Firm Aerones, which specializes in heavy duty UAVs. The powerful craft with 36 propellers can carry up to 100 kg and the company is making it for years.
The drone is out with numerous potential uses like in rescue scenarios, firefighting in high rise buildings, delivery, industrial cleaning. The video of the drone shows how it is knocking snow and ice off the blades of a wind turbine. Craft is built with a tether line supplying water, sprays up to 100 liters a minute and another is used for power. The cost caused by this drone is around $1000 compared to $5000 and goes up for climbing.
Beneficial for low maintenance as well as helping in enhances power efficiency. This invention of drone for de-icing is both quicker and safer than sending humans up for removing ice from blades.
